YardQuote

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what personal information YardQuote collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. YardQuote serves the Greater Toronto Areaand is operated from Ontario, Canada. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). By using YardQuote or submitting a quote request, you agree to this policy. Effective date: July 2, 2026.

What information does YardQuote collect?

YardQuote collects the details you enter in a quote request: your name, email, phone number, service, area or postal code, and the project details you choose to share. We also collect basic technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, in standard server logs to keep the site secure and working. We do not ask for sensitive information like financial account numbers, and you should never send it to us.

How does YardQuote use your information?

We use the information in your quote request for one main purpose: to match you with local contractors who can bid on your project. We may also use your email to reply to you, confirm your request, or follow up about that specific quote. YardQuote does not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated advertising. Server logs are used only for security, troubleshooting and preventing abuse.

Who does YardQuote share your quote details with?

This is important, so we state it plainly. When you submit a quote request, YardQuote shares the details you provided, including your name, contact information and project description, with up to 3 matched contractors so they can prepare a quote. Those contractors are independent businesses, not YardQuote, and once they receive your request they handle your information under their own privacy practices. We share your request only with pros matched to your service and area, never as a public listing.

Does YardQuote use cookies or analytics?

YardQuote currently uses only the essential cookies needed for the site to function, such as remembering your progress in the quote form. We do not run third-party analytics, advertising pixels or cross-site trackers at this time. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy first and describe your choices. Because we do not track you across the web, there is no advertising profile of you to opt out of.

How does YardQuote handle business listing data?

Our directory lists businesses using public information, such as company names, addresses, phone numbers, ratings and reviews sourced from Google Maps and business websites. This is public business data, not private personal data. If you own a listed business and want your listing corrected or removed, email hello@yardquote.ca with your business name and request. We process removal and correction requests, usually within 2 business days.

What are your privacy rights under PIPEDA?

Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information YardQuote holds about you, request a copy, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent to our use of it. To exercise any of these rights, email us and we will respond within a reasonable time, generally 2 business days for a first reply. Note that once a quote request has already been sent to matched contractors, you will also need to contact those businesses directly to manage the copy they hold.

How does YardQuote comply with CASL?

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) governs commercial email. YardQuote sends only transactional messages tied to a quote you requested, such as confirmations and follow-ups about that job. We do not send marketing newsletters or promotional blasts. If we ever introduce optional marketing email, it will be strictly opt-in with a clear unsubscribe link in every message, as CASL requires.

How does YardQuote store and retain your data?

We keep quote requests only as long as needed to complete the match and handle any follow-up, then remove or anonymize them on a periodic basis. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect the information we hold, though no method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure. Data may be processed on servers located in Canada or the United States by our hosting and email providers.

How do I contact YardQuote about privacy?

For any privacy question or request, email hello@yardquote.ca. If we make material changes to this policy, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. Please also review our terms of service, which govern your use of YardQuote.
